Summer is over and it’s time for the new dance season to start! Whether you are a seasoned dancer or just starting out, this is an exciting time for everyone. But it can be easy to leap into the new season without being fully prepared. Preparing for the new dance season is just like going back to school. You need to purchase the right supplies and take steps to get back into routine and study mode. Starting a new dance season isn’t much different. Here’s what you need to do to prepare.

Choose your classes

Classes at our dance studio in Fort Worth, TX fill up quickly once the season begins, so it’s important to decide ahead of time which dance classes you are interested in and enroll as early as possible. If your teacher has made recommendations for you, make enrolling in these classes a priority. Your instructor often knows best and will work with you to ensure that you have the proper foundation in your dance education.

Coordinate your schedule

It can be hard to know everything you’ll have on your plate for the rest of the year, but try to make sense of your schedule as much as possible before the season starts. Doing so will not only help save you stress later, but it will help ensure that you can get into the classes and times that work best for you.

Check the dress code

Even if you already own dancewear, it’s important to see what is required for the specific classes you enrolled in for the upcoming season. You don’t want to wait until class starts to realize that you don’t have the appropriate attire for the class. You should also check the condition of your existing dancewear in case anything needs to be replaced before the season starts.

Gather your supplies

Besides dancewear, there are other supplies you should make sure you have. Here are just a few things we suggest:

  • Water bottle
  • Hair accessories
  • Deodorant
  • Tissues and wet wipes
  • Bandages and antibiotic ointment
  • Dance bag
  • Notebook and pen/pencil
  • Healthy snacks

Get to know your instructor

Once the dance season starts, things can get busy very quickly. It’s smart to take the time to introduce yourself to your instructor in advance and let them know what some of your goals or interests are for taking their class. They can often help provide customized guidance once classes start to help ensure your personal goals are met.

At Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Fort Worth, we are just as excited for the new dance season as our students are, which is why we want to make sure you are prepared. By following these few steps, you can make sure that you enter the new dance season on the right foot.
